ECP rejects Sindh authorities’s plea to postpone LG polls in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: The Election Fee of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday rejected the Sindh authorities’s plea to postpone the second section of native authorities (LG) polls in Sindh and declared that the elections in Karachi and Hyderabad could be held as scheduled on January 15.

A five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja contemplated the pleas/notification of the Sindh authorities looking for postponement of native authorities elections in Karachi division, Hyderabad, two tehsils of Dadu, Khairpur Nathan, and Mehar which had been scheduled to be held on Jan 15. The fee rejected the provincial authorities’s petition to defer LG polls.
