ECP reinstates membership of 36 legislators following wealth declaration

ISLAMABAD: The Election Fee of Pakistan (ECP) has reinstated the membership of 36 lawmakers, together with 25 members of the Nationwide Meeting and 6 senators, after they submitted particulars of their property.

The fee had beforehand suspended the membership of 271 lawmakers for failing to submit statements of their property and liabilities by the December 31 deadline.

The suspended lawmakers included 136 members of the Nationwide Meeting, 21 senators, 54 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Meeting, 48 members of the Sindh Meeting, and 12 members of the Balochistan Meeting.

The ECP had given the lawmakers a closing deadline of January 15 to submit their asset particulars or face suspension on January 16.
